Description

NET Engineering S.p.A. has been awarded - in a consortium led by RPA-Perugia and including among others Carlos Fernandez Casado of Madrid - the design of the North-South Road Axis in Bari, South Italy, including the elevated crossings of the existing railway lines.

The new structure solves a many decades-old connection and traffic problem in the City of Bari.

The most important component of the axis is the complex viaduct crossing the railway park, including a cable-stayed bridge with span of 225 m an two access viaducts with total length of 626 m .

The central support tower (height 71 m) is angled in respect of the bridge, thus becoming a characteristic landmark which can be seen and recognized from every view angle. The structure benefits of an accurate lighting system which increases its visual appeal without hindering its functionality.
